Just Tired

Some of you have noticed that I haven't been blogging for a couple of weeks. Except for the Scatterday Challenges which, to be frank, I'm too scared to miss. ;^)

I started a new job and have been working 10-12 hour days for the last three weeks. And not sleeping very well. And HRH is back in school with all that entails. And my BAS is due tomorrow. And I've been trying to piece a quilt that was supposed to be done, well, let's just say it's a bit overdue.

I am not a piecer and it has been a real challenge for me to keep working on it. And it hasn't gone together as expected and some parts have been reworked a couple of times. I was hoping to get it done this weekend ... maybe tomorrow.

I'll probably take the rest of this week off from the blog and return to normal blogging in November. Thanks for your patience.

Scatterday Challenge - J

This week's Scatterday Challenge is brought to you by the letter J - Restaurant, Sport and Pointy Things.

For Restaurant, I give you Junk Food, not exactly fine dinning but quite a treat for kids whose parents only relent once or twice a term.

In the category of Sport, I give you Jerks, professional sportsmen who hold themselves up as role models, quite happily taking huge sums of money from the teams they play for and various sponsors while all the time lying to us about what great guys they are.

And, finally, we come to Pointy Things. Pointy is defined as 'having parts that stick out sharply here and there'. But I decided against giving you a photo of John Howard's eyebrows, which most certainly fit the bill, because you might be a bit tired of having him show up in my Scatterday Challenge every week in a most unfavourable light. Instead, I decided to give you Jaws. But I was sorely tempted.

For next week, the Letter is A and the categories are Round Things, Vegetables and Something You Like The Smell Of.

Scatterday Challenge - P

This week's Scatterday Challenge is brought to you by the letter P - Red, Sweet Things and Metal.

For Red, I give you Potential Patchwork Piece with the leftovers from a red challenge quilt that I've been saving, well, just in case.

For Sweet Things, my all-time favourite breakfast, Pancakes, complete with maple syrup. I was going to give you a plethora of politicians passionately promising prosperity, but I sort of already did that one last week.

And, finally, for Metal, a good, old fashioned, Paper Punch.

Scatterday Challenge - F

This week's Scatterday Challenge is brought to you by the letter F - Cold Things, Signs and The Elements. And I think that you will agree that, even thought this is a bit late, it is very Maggie-esque.

For Cold Things, I give you Fair Weather Friends, politicians who only care about working parents or the environment or the most vulnerable in our society when they are standing for election, whether it has been called or not, then quite happily turn their backs on all of us once they have another term ahead of them.

For Signs, I give you Full, a sign that I can go anywhere I want but is also a sign that I won't have any money to spend once I get there.

And, as my finale (in keeping with the F theme), we have The Elements. An element is a pure substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances. It is also the situation in which you are happiest and most effective, 'in your element'. So, in keeping with both definitions, I give you Fudge in a number of its isotopes.

Scatterday Challenge - C

This week's Scatterday Challenge is brought to you by the letter C - Hobbies, Furniture and Pizza Toppings.

For Hobbies, I give you some of my collection of Chargers. Cameras, phones, iPods, remote controls, bluetooth mouse and keyboard, laptop ... all require charging from time to time.

For Furniture, we have this Chest of Drawers, where my DVDs live. Well, most of them. OK, a lot of them ... cut me some slack here!

And for Pizza Toppings, we have my perennial favourite, Cheese. I prefer to use a couple of different cheeses all mixed together for best flavour and stretchiness.

And for next week? We'll have to wait for Michelle. She must be having a lie-in this morning.

My Wharf is Back

And today I got to take the ferry into the city. It looks so beautiful, you'd be forgiven for not knowing that it's hot today and dry and blowing a gale with a hint of that now-familiar smoke smell in the air ... yup, must be bushfire season.
