From Waste to Art -- Mosman Night Owls Challenge

I made this little A4 sized quilt for this year's Mosman Night Owls Challenge: From Waste to Art.

Everything in this quilt is started off as a leftover:
  • The wadding was donated by AnnMaire
  • The backing fabric and binding was from somebody's leftovers from a workshop that Nic Bridges did for the Mosman Night Owls.
  • The threads and bits under the organza were collected from the off-cuts and bits off the floor from that same workshop.
  • Ann kindly donated the organza that covers the lot.
  • I made the hearts with machine trapunto and scraps of wadding.
  • I machine quilted it with the last bits of the reel of a varigated cotton.
Here's a close up shot of one of the hearts.

Beautiful and very effective! I knew there was a reason (apart from scraps for ATCs) that I was keeping every little bit of scrap!
